Selective Enrollment Open House Set for October 16
Jones College Prep will hold its annual "Open House" for Class of 2015 prospective students on Saturday, October 16. Doors will open at 11:00 AM and the last group will be admitted at 2:00 PM. All interested parents and students are cordially invited

"Back-to-School Night" Thursday, September 16, 7:00 PM
All Jones parents are invited to our annual "Back-to-School Night" to meet our teachers and learn more about their students' program of studies. Each parent will follow an abbreviated student schedule of 10-minute classes. We look forward to welcoming you to Jones!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
Please remember the first day of school is Tuesday, September 7, 2010. All students are to report to their Adviosry promptly at 8:00 AM. While in advisory students will receive their new schedules, lockers assignment and locks.

AUGUST 17 LSC MEETING CANCELLED
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Jones LSC is Tuesday, September 14, 5:30 PM, in the cafeteria.

Sports Programs Restored
As reported in the Sun-Times on August 3, 2010, CPS is restoring non-varsity athletics, previously cut due to budget deficits. Jones will be offering freshman JV/sophomore, and varsity teams as previously, depending on tryout numbers.

Newsweek: Jones one of "America's Best High Schools"
Jones College Prep has been listed for the first time on Newsweek's annual ranking of "America's Best High Schools" for 2010. Jones ranks 229 out of more than 1600 top schools nationwide, 6th in the state of Illinois, and 4th in Chicago behind Northside (70), Lincoln Park (95), and Walter Payton (206).

LSC Parent Representative Vacancy
Due to a recent resignation, there is a parent representative vacancy on the Jones College Prep Local School Council (LSC). This position will be filled at the September 14, 2010, regular LSC meeting. New Parent Summer BBQ, Thursday, July 22, 6-8pm
Attention Parents of Incoming JCP Freshmen: You are invited to to the JCP New Parent Summer BBQ, Thursday, July 22nd, from 6-8pm in the JCP Cafeteria. Come learn about JCP’s community, curriculum & expectations, meet other JCP parents and find out how to get involved at Jones. Dinner will be served. JCP Parents only BUT childcare will be provided, for potty-trained children. Hope to see you there!
