Academic Programs at Jones College Prep
The mission of Jones College Prep is to help students develop themselves as leaders through a rigorous college prep program that focuses on education of the whole person.

Academic standards are high at Jones College Prep and all decisions regarding academic programs are made through the lens of helping students work to their personal potential on the road to the college or university of their choice.

The instruction at Jones College Prep is grounded in five conceptual frameworks. Decisions about content and instruction are rooted in the Illinois Learning Standards, the ACT Standards of Transition, Writing Across the Curriculum, Alignment with Advanced Placement Courses, and the Passions of Teachers and Students. Every course taught at Jones College Prep can be directly connected to these five important conceptual roots.

While these frameworks of Teaching and Learning at Jones College Prep link our classes, you will also find much that distinguishes each course and makes it unique. Jones is proud to offer a wide variety of courses throughout the curriculum and a solid tradition of high-quality programs that connect our students to the various cultural and educational institutions of Chicago.

You can view these courses at http://jones.sound-programming.com. They are divided by department and a description of each course is provided. Please take some time to read through the course offerings at Jones College Prep.

The school is proud of its concentrated programs as well as its Advanced Placement classes. Students interested in focusing on a specific area of study are welcome to take advanced classes in one area while completing their general education requirements. Specific concentrated programs exist in:
  • Vocal Music
  • Law
  • Accounting and Economics
  • Information Technology
  • Instrumental Music
  • Theatre

Additionally, students may design their own area of focus by taking advanced classes in any department. Most departments offer Advanced Placement classes that students may be eligible to take following successful completion of other courses.

Students may also take courses at colleges and universities throughout Chicago. Many of the concentrated programs have specific links with neighboring institutions. Other students complete their own work at these colleges and universities through the College Bridge or College Excel programs available through the Chicago Public Schools.

Some colleges and universities with whom Jones College Prep enjoys a partnership include:
  • Chicago State University
  • Columbia College Chicago
  • DePaul University
  • DeVry Institute
  • Illinois Institute of Technology
  • Loyola University Chicago
  • Malcolm X College
