Student Art Projects
 Vegan The decision to make this piece on those people that claim to be vegans because of the treatment that animals receive, and yet these same people turn around and buy the latest leather boots, was inspired by someone close to the artist. Many people argue that animals are being treated cruelly just so we can have meat to eat. The fact is that many of these animals also experience the same treatment when they are being used for clothing. This piece is not telling the audience to become a vegan, but rather if a person chooses to be a vegan they should be able to lead that lifestyle in every aspect of everyday life. It is possible to be a vegan and buy garments that are not made from animals or animal parts. Society influences young minds on how to lead their lives and many attempt to impersonate celebrities or be something they are not. The purpose of this piece was not to poke fun at vegans but to show an aspect of people who are being posers. It was also created to expose those people who feel like they need to act a certain way in order to "belong" to something or other. -Karina Avitia & Marilyn Gomez |
