Dear Parent/Guardian:

 

School reform in Chicago is working, but it needs everyone's support and involvement if the success is to continue. A CANDIDATE FORUM will be held on at 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Jones College Prep, 606 S. State Street in the cafeteria. All candidates running for seats on the Jones College Prep Local School Council have been invited to make presentations. The Candidate Forum will help you decide for whom to vote. After you hear the candidates, you will be better prepared to choose the candidates who best represent your views. I urge you to attend the Forum, listen to the candidates, and plan to elect the parents and community residents who will determine the future of your school.

 

Below are the names of all the candidates who are running, listed in the order they filed. If you cannot attend the Forum, I urge you to visit the school and review the Candidate Statement forms that present their qualifications and plans.

 

REMEMBER, the election will be held at Jones College Prep on April 16, 2008 from 6:00 a.m. until polls close at 7:00 p.m. Since you will also be at the school that day for Report Card Pick-Up, I urge you to consider your choices and plan to vote in the LSC elections.

When you come to vote you must present 2 forms of ID to the election judges. For community voters, one ID must come from the following list and have a current address: Drivers License, Current Utility Bill, Student ID, Credit Card, Voter Registration Card, Library Card, Green Card, Student's Birth Certificate, Court Documents, MediPlan/a Medicaid Card, IDPA Card, Social Security Card, and Matricula Consular. Vote for no more than 5 persons of your choice.

Any person needing a sign language interpreter for the Candidate Forum must request one by calling Office of Local School Council Relations at (773) 553-1400 (voice) or (773) 553-1005 (TTY) before 3:00 p.m. March 14, 2008.
