Student Responsibility for Keeping Track of Violations / Consequences
JCP uses a computer system to keep track of a student's discipline record. This is to ensure accuracy and consistency across the school and among the many staff members who may have a discipline interaction with students. For example, if a student is tardy to class for a third time, that classroom teacher cannot keep track of how many tardies the student has earned. The third tardy results in the computer automatically assigning a detention. While a reasonable effort will be made to post an accurate detention list, the student must report for detention on his/her own accord after s/he has earned a third tardy. Many violations result in a detention after a second offense. The staff member who confronts the student on a second violation may not know that this particular offense is the student's second. Once entered into the computer, it will automatically assign a detention. The student must keep track of this and report to detention on his/her own accord if s/he has earned a detention.
