Electronic devices include, but are not limited to, cell phones, pagers, CD players, video games, stereo headsets, Ipods, and mp3 players. These devices may be in students’ possession, but may not be in view or use except in the Cell Phone Zone*. Students must keep their devices in their lockers except during their assigned lunch period. Students are allowed to use electronic devices in the morning but the device must be put into their locker before the 7:56 a.m. warning bell. Students are also allowed to use electronics after school but not before the 2:54 p.m. dismissal bell.
*The cell phone zone is the lunchroom during scheduled lunch periods. It must be the student’s scheduled lunch period and they must wear their ID proving that it is their lunch period.
Consequences for visible Electronic Device:
o 1st Offense - confiscation of the item and a detention, the item is to be returned at the convenience of the Assistant Dean’s office.
o 2nd Offense - confiscation of item, detention and parent/guardian must report to JCP to retrieve/pickup the electronic device at the convenience of the Assistant Dean’s office.
o 3rd Offense and continued offenses - confiscation of item, detention, and parent/guardian must report to JCP to retrieve/pickup the electronic device, and the student will no longer be permitted to have the device on school grounds.
Consequences for activation or use of an Electronic Device:
o Confiscation of the item to be returned at the convenience of the Assistant Dean’s office. Due to the increased opportunity for Electronic Device usage, if a student is found using an Electronic Device outside of the Cell Phone Zone, the consequences will be more severe.
Refusal to turn in the device will result in the possibility of further disciplinary actions up to and including suspension.
