Important: PSAT Assessment is Canceled Tomorrow, 10/30

As Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and Mayor Lightfoot’s Office work around the clock to reach a fair contract agreement with our teachers, the district continues to make plans in support of our students’ academic success. Earlier this month, the district postponed the Fall 2019 PSAT and SAT assessments until Wednesday, October 30, 2019 with the hope that school would be in session. In order to ensure our students can test under optimal conditions so they can perform at their best, CPS is canceling the PSAT and SAT assessments tomorrow, regardless of whether classes are in session.

The district has confirmation from the College Board and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation that juniors will be able to submit their April 2020 SAT test scores for consideration for the National Merit Scholarship. Additional updates for each assessment are included below:

PSAT/NMSQT

  • PSAT/NMSQT administration is canceled.
  • 11th grade students will be able to submit their April 2020 SAT test scores for consideration for the National Merit Scholarship.
I know that these assessments can significantly impact your child’s postsecondary plans, and it is important to me that your child tests under the best conditions possible. Thank you for your support and patience with these changes. Please contact the school directly with any questions.

Sincerely,

P. Joseph Powers, Ph.D.
