About...
Ray Lesniewski teaches Advanced Placement Chemistry and Honors Chemistry here at Jones. He has taught chemistry to students of all levels, from 5th grade to college, since 1987. Ray received his BS in Chemistry Education from Illinois State University in 1987 and his MS in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1990. Since then he has taken over 55 semester hours of additional coursework in Chemistry and continues his professional development every year.
Ever since he was a little boy, he was very curious about how the world works and it is this wonder that he loves to share with his students. Ray Lesniewski also has an extensive background in amateur and semi-professional theatre, and tries to integrate the performing arts whenever possible to help make chemistry concepts come alive for his students. Currently, he has narrated several audiobooks that are available on iTunes, Amazon and Audible. (Favorites: Operation Red Dragon and CFI! The Book: A Satirical Aviation Comedy) He even has a website, voicesofray.com, devoted to this endeavor.
He has taught AP Chemistry at Jones since 2001 and has recently presented at the national AP conference for the last five summers. He is also a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in science.
(Fun fact: Ray Lesniewski also loves puzzle solving and was on an episode of Wheel of Fortune in 1994!)
