Bio

Elijah Luis Hernandez ("Nurse Eli") has been part of the Jones community as a Health Service Nurse (HSN) since September 2021. Eli obtained his Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Chamberlain University, as well as his Master's of Science in Nursing Informatics from UIC College of Nursing. Starting off as a neurology nurse, Eli has worked in a variety of settings outside of Jones, including hospitals, clinics, and other schools. His role at Jones include assessing students with chronic medical conditions, providing first aid, and coordinating direct nursing services to students that may have an IEP or 504 plan. As a nurse on the autism spectrum with a background in neuroscience, Eli has expertise in caring for people of all backgrounds, especially those with neurological and developmental disorders.

 

Eli was also a product of Chicago Public Schools, having gone to Jose De Diego Community Academy and Carl von Linne Elementary School, and is a high school alumnus of Northside College Prep. His interests include cloud architecture (web design), video games, software programming/coding, and playing volleyball. You can read more about Eli via the links below:
